our covid stories

Everyone has their own covid stories to tell, here is a snapshot of some of our key moments and ways we were able to help during these challenging times.

The covid-19 pandemic turned the world upside down and presented challenges that our generation have never faced before. These challenges forced us to pull together in order to push through it and out of adversity emerged a host of amazing stories showing goodwill and support to those who needed it most.

Heatons were more than happy to do our part to help where we could. Here are a few of our stories during covid.

PPE for the frontline

As lockdown took us by surprise, PPE was in very short supply. When we were instructed to work from home, we rounded up all of our FFP2 masks, goggles and safety glasses and dropped them off to the nursing staff at Arrowe Park Hospital.

Designated the UK’s first quarantine site during the pandemic, this flagship hospital on the Wirral has been at the forefront of the fight against the virus since the very start.

“It’s so nice to know that people care and want to help, a big thank you from the team for the PPE, we appreciate it.” - Arrowe Park Hospital

£15,000 covid care package giveaway

The coronavirus proved difficult for all of us, but especially so for many charitable organisations struggling with financial difficulties. With this in mind, we launched an initiative to give something back to our local community and help charities and good causes to continue the fight against the pandemic.

We put together 10 care packages made up from our Covid-combatting products, including gloves, masks, aprons, hand sanitiser and wipes, each worth over £1,000. Via social media we invited people to nominate organisations they thought would benefit and were blown away by the response.

It was too difficult to choose just 10 from all the brilliant causes put forward, so we added another 10 smaller care packages worth £500 each to be able to help as many charities as we could. In these uncertain times, small acts of kindness make a huge difference and we were delighted our deliveries helped raise a smile and support our local community.

Johnny Vegas delivers care package

We donated a care package to the team at Willowbrook Hospice kindly delivered by none other than Merseyside comedy star Johnny Vegas, a keen supporter of the hospice which cared for his dad.

Willowbrook Hospice is an independent charity established in 1993 by local people to raise funds to build and run a specialist palliative care unit in St Helens.

We’re pleased the team will benefit from the hand sanitiser, PPE and drinking water as they continue their incredible work.

“Thank you Heatons for your kind donation, everyone here is extremely grateful and very happy to see it safely delivered.” - Willowbrook Hospice
